Carla Fonseca
Global Marketing Manager

What is your role and responsibilities at KYBORA?

As Global Marketing Manager, I lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing
and communication strategies for KYBORA on a global scale, including our affiliates in the US, Europe, China and Latin America.
My role involves managing brand positioning, implementing global marketing strategies, overseeing marketing campaigns and collaborating with cross functional teams, while analyzing market trends and competition, managing budgets and ensuring compliance and local regulations.

What are some of your most proud achievements or accomplishments?

With over 20 years of experience in creating and implementing high-impact marketing, communication and business strategies, I am passionate about developing strategies that enhance company image and positioning, generate new leads and help uncover business opportunities.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity of building and leading marketing departments from scratch, developing and managing marketing strategies that include branding and lead generation campaigns, content marketing, digital marketing, event management, social media and press relations. I take an enormous pride in contributing to organizational success and the growth of team members.

In 2023, I was honored as one of the “Top 10 Women Leading the MarTech Revolution” by CIOLook Business Magazine. I believe this recognition reflects the passion, dedication and commitment I bring to my work every day.

At this moment, I am incredibly proud of being part of KYBORA and contributing to the organization’s growth and success.

Do you have any relevant or notable experience that you would like to highlight?

Marketing is an incredibly dynamic and multifaceted field, marked by its complexity and the diversity of projects and areas it handles. Much of the most crucial work happens “behind the scenes”, requiring a deep commitment of time, organization and focus. I believe the real magic often lies in these subtle details, with success defined by dedication to these unseen efforts.

Throughout my career, I’ve built a strong foundation in marketing management and developed a passion for crafting innovative and result-oriented strategies.

In addition to building two successful marketing departments from scratch, achieving significant gains in brand awareness and business impact, I have served as CMO on the board of an organization and founded and managed an e-commerce company. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive 360º view of organizational dynamics.

I’ve been invited to speak at conferences and have contributed with opinion articles for specialized and
business media, which allows me to share my knowledge with a wider audience.

Are you a member of any notable boards, societies, organizations, etc. that you would like to share?

I’m a member of PWN (Professional Women Network).

Please share your educational background.

I hold a degree in Business Communication and a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management. Additionally, I have specialized in Leadership and Management through programs focused on Strategic Leadership and Design thinking. I’m also certified in Coaching, Innovation and Creativity.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

I love reading, travelling, exploring new places and cultures and starting my day with 30 minutes of exercise. Recently, I’ve taken up gardening as a new hobby, which allows me to immerse myself in nature and enjoy its beauty. Above all, I cherish spending quality time with those I care about.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams or player?

Recently, thanks to my son’s involvement in tennis, I’ve become a fan of the sport and now follow the major tournaments. I also enjoy keeping up with soccer.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a child, I dreamed of becoming both a Doctor and Ballerina!

I studied ballet from the age of 4 to 15, training at the Royal Academy of Dancing and at 10, I was honored to join Portugal National Ballet Company. Dance captivated me with its elegance, creativity and the stories it tells through the movement. This experience was pivotal in shaping who I am today, instilling qualities like focus, self-discipline, resilience and determination that I continue to apply in all areas of my life.

Simultaneously, my desire to become a doctor was inspired by frequent visits to my mother’s workplace, where she worked as a nurse. The idea of helping those in need fascinated and inspired me. I imagined making meaningful difference in the lives of people facing health challenges and contributing to their well-being.

Please share a motto, quote, or mantra that inspires you.

“The best thing in life is to go ahead with all your plans and your dreams, to embrace life and to live everyday with passion, to lose and still keep the faith and to win while being grateful. All of this because the world belongs to those who dare to go after what they want. And because life is really too short to be insignificant.” – Charlie Chaplin

I’m driven by the desire to make a difference, achieve results and contribute for a better future. I embrace the motto Carpe Diem and am inspired by the Kaizen philosophy of continuous improvement.
