What is your role and responsibilities at KYBORA?
I am primary responsible for growing KYBORA’s business in Europe. I also support deal origination and execution in other regions.
What are some of your most proud achievements or accomplishments?
Prior to joining KYBORA, I was Chief Business Officer at Besins Healthcare, where, in three years, I completed 15 deals that are expected to generate close to $0.5B in revenues over the next five years. Before Besins Healthcare, I was Vice President Business Development at Avadel Pharmaceuticals where I contributed, starting with the acquisition of Eclat Pharmaceuticals, to the transformation of a standalone drug delivery fee for service business into a profitable specialty pharma. Before that, I was Director of Business Development at Micromet (now Amgen) where I participated to strategic partnerships (altogether for over $1B value) with Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Boehringer Ingelheim, Lonza and Sanofi. I also worked for Crucell (now Johnson & Johnson) as business developer and, various Venture Capital firms as CEO and liquidator. I was the founding CEO of Avidis (now Osivax), a Medical Research Council spin-off set-up with Sirs Alan R. Fersht and John E. Walker (Nobel Prize in chemistry 1997).
Do you have any relevant or notable experience that you would like to highlight?
I bring over 24 years of experience across a wide range of leadership roles, including Board Member, CEO, and Chief Business Officer, within diverse segments of the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. I have successfully operated in key global markets, including the USA, EU, CIS-CEE (including Russia), LATAM, ASPAC (including China, India, and Japan), and MENA-GCC. My expertise encompasses identifying and assessing opportunities—leading cross-functional diligence teams, conducting market research, strategic positioning, and performing NPV/rNPV analyses. I am skilled in structuring and negotiating partnerships, including M&A (buy and sell), licensing (in and out), co-promotion, co-development, R&D partnerships, manufacturing/supply agreements, and fundraising. I have a strong track record across multiple drugs (small molecules and biologics), therapeutic areas, and technology platforms. With well-honed project management and leadership skills, I excel at navigating complex decision-making structures to close deals, launch businesses, and drive growth, including in start-up environments.
Please share your educational background.
I have a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Strasbourg, France) and I performed post-doctoral research with Sirs Allan R. Fersht and Greg P. Winter (Nobel Prize in chemistry 2018) at the Center for Protein Engineering of the MRC (Cambridge, UK).
